 FAQs

  • Please contact intake@counselingclemson.com or go to our contact page for all counseling service inquiries, and our intake coordinator will respond to you within 48 hours.

  • Yes, our clinicians are credentialed with BlueCross BlueShield (BCBS). BCBS is the only insurance we are paneled with, however we are also able to provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network benefits as a self-pay client. We’re happy to discuss rates and payment options to help you find what works best for your situation.

  • Some of our therapists are in network with BlueCross Blue Shield. Fees incurred when accessing insurance benefits vary greatly and are dependent on fees dictated by the specific policy. Contact your insurance provider and request information on your outpatient mental health benefits and be sure to inquire as to the benefit for in-network and out-of network (sometimes out of network benefits are nearly as good as in-network and this would allow you to work with any therapist that you choose). Individuals not accessing insurance benefits will generally experience a per session fee of $130. The initial session is typically $145. Payment is expected at the time of service.

  • We understand that healthcare expenses can be difficult. We would love to refer you to our not for profit agency, City Center Counseling Ministry. This is a separate counseling center that is run by Licensed Professional Counseling Associates and Interns who are supervised by our LPC Supervisors at Greenville Counseling Associates. Sessions are at a reduced fee and a sliding scale is available if needed. Visit City Center Counseling Ministry.

  • Counseling sessions must be cancelled more than 24 business hours in advance in order to avoid being charged a late cancellation fee. Monday appointments must be cancelled by the previous Friday at 5:00pm. Please email intake@counselingclemson.com to cancel appointments.

  • No, while we love serving Clemson students, we also work with local families, teens, adults, and couples from the wider Upstate area.

  • That’s no problem! You can continue with the same counselor via telehealth during breaks or transitions.

Note: Please ask your clinician more about this, as they may not be able to provide telehealth services if you are out-of-state.

  • Therapy is a very individualized, personal tool used for development, growth, and healing. Because of the nature of the counseling relationship, it is important that you work with a qualified individual with whom you experience a level of trust and comfort. Please feel free to visit our counselor page to review the biographic information related to the counselors in our group.

  • Your first session is simply a conversation to get to know you, your goals, and what brought you in. There’s no pressure, but just a chance to feel heard and start creating a plan that fits your needs.

  • Typically, counseling sessions are scheduled for a 55 minute time period 1-4 times per month. Because each situation is different, it is important that you work with your individual therapist to develop a plan that feels comfortable and beneficial to you.
